BLAST is a week-long program offered during the summer to all incoming 9th graders who will be entering Montgomery Blair High School in the Fall.
The BLAST teaching staff has designed a program that includes activities which better prepare students for a successful high school experience. They include:
Practice in reading, writing, note-taking in 9th grade classrooms
Time management, goal setting, and conflict management
Preparation for the required summer reading assignment
Training and practice on the Blair computer systems
Introduction to Blair (which includes policies and procedures, extra-curricular activities, school layout, etc.), Connections, and the new Blair Academies
BLAST is offered in three week-long summer sessions. The first session begins July 6 - 9. The second session begins July 19 - 23, and the last session begins July 26 - 30. Each session meets from 8:15 am - 12:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Students are expected to attend all 5 days and demonstrate appropriate behavior in order to have successfully completed the program.
THERE IS NO COST FOR THE PROGRAM. IT IS FREE FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS!!!
